Safety of our students is our highest priority. Both our Bremerton and Poulsbo campuses are located in very safe neighborhoods and boast a long history of student safety. Both campuses are locked and require the use of a buzzer system to gain entry. In an emergency, every classroom is equipped with a lockdown mechanism, and our faculty and staff are trained in the ALICE method by Kitsap County sheriffs each year.

Physical Security Measures for Crosspoint Christian School

Secure Perimeter

  • Fencing and Gates: Sturdy fencing surrounds the school property, with gates secured using locks. Additional fencing is planned for installation in the summer of 2025.
  • Controlled Entry Points: Access is limited to one or two main entry points, monitored by over 100 security cameras across both campuses.
  • Clear Signage: Directional and no-trespassing signs are prominently displayed to guide visitors and deter unauthorized access.

Access Control

  • Visitor Management System: All visitors are required to check in at the main office and wear identification badges while on campus.
  • Locked Doors: Classroom and facility doors are kept locked when not in use to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Window Covering: Vinyl coverings installed in 2023 on windows facing public areas allow sunlight in and ensure visibility from the inside while preventing visibility from the outside.

Surveillance

  • CCTV Cameras: Over 100 cameras are installed across entrances, hallways, parking lots, playgrounds, and other key areas. Footage is securely stored and reviewed periodically as needed.
  • Live Monitoring: Office personnel actively monitor live camera feeds during school hours.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Emergency Drills: Regular drills for fire, lockdowns, evacuations, and natural disasters are conducted to ensure preparedness.
  • Alarm Systems: Fire alarms and public address systems are in place for immediate communication.
  • Emergency Kits: Every classroom and office is equipped with first aid kits and emergency supplies.
  • Evacuation Plans: Clearly marked evacuation maps are posted in all classrooms and common areas.

Staff Identification

  • ID Badges: Faculty and staff wear identification badges to distinguish authorized personnel on campus.
  • Electronic Attendance System: The FACTS/RenWeb system is used for accurate attendance tracking.

Parking and Traffic Control

  • Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones: Clearly marked zones for parents and buses are supervised by staff during busy times.
  • Traffic Barriers: Bollards and barriers are strategically placed to prevent unauthorized vehicle access to pedestrian areas.

Communication Systems

  • Two-Way Radios: Staff are equipped with radios for quick communication, especially during outdoor activities like recess.
  • Mobile Alerts: Flash Alert is used to send text or app notifications to parents and staff during emergencies.

Lighting and Landscaping

  • Outdoor Lighting: Entry points, pathways, and parking areas are well-lit. Additional lighting was installed in December 2024, with more planned for installation this spring.
  • Landscape Design: Landscaping is regularly maintained to eliminate hiding spots and improve visibility around the campus.

Policies and Community Involvement

  • Visitor Policies: Visitors must provide advance notice, check in at the office, and be accompanied by Crosspoint personnel during their visit.
  • Parent Involvement: Parents are encouraged to volunteer, subject to passing an authorized background check.
  • Behavioral Policies: A clear code of conduct and anti-bullying policies are established and regularly reviewed to maintain a safe environment.

Crisis Management Plan

  • Incident Response Team: Crosspoint partners with the Olympic Educational Service District (OESD) to enhance emergency response capabilities.
  • Partnership with Authorities: OESD supports building relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure rapid response in critical situations.
  • ALICE Protocol: Faculty and staff receive annual training on ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) by OESD, tailored to the specific needs and layout of each campus.
